Alma Diana Paez

June 28, 1936 — April 26, 2020

Alma Diana Paez, blessed with 83 beautiful years, entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, April 26, 2020 peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Laredo, Texas, and preceded in death by her parents Jesus & Olivia Gonzalez, and her two sisters, Mary Fernandez and Delfina Ramos. Diana, or “Nana” as she was lovingly called by her family, was a loving, faith-filled, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Most importantly, she was the rock, the matriarch, of her family.Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Homero of 61 years. “Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things,” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7. This was the love that Diana and Homero exemplified to all their children. Now, to their children, it is left to carry on.She will be greatly missed by her sons and daughters: Jesse & Liana Cynthia (Paez) Aguero, Homero & Mely Paez, Jose & Melissa Yvonne (Paez) Sanchez, Rene Javier & Monica Paez, and Mario Gerardo & Debbie Paez. Her grandchildren will truly miss their “Nana” and they include: Cynthia Selina (Aguero) & Juan Cortinas, Erika Christina (Aguero) & Ricardo Olivares, Jessica Yvonne (Aguero) & Adrian Gaona, Karina Teresa Paez, Homero Paez III, Lazaro Jesus Paez, Jose Gerardo Sanchez II, Olivia Alejandra Sanchez, Rene Javier Paez Jr., Nicholas Daniel Paez, Joel Alejandro Paez, Victoria Lee Paez, Mario Gerardo Paez II, Alexa Danielle Paez, and Sofia Valentina Paez. Also included are 7 great-grandchildren: Gabriella & Xiomara Cortinas, Ricardo, Milania, & Cristian Olivares, Ximena & Ariana Gaona. Diana is also survived by numerous loving relatives and friends. We give special thanks to her caregiver Mary that cared for her in her last days.Diana was a loyal & dedicated employee at Laredo National Bank for many years where she was blessed to have made numerous long lasting friendships. After retiring from LNB, she decided to return to work for Laredo ISD as a library-aide at M.S. Ryan Elementary. Again, Diana was blessed with an abundance of friendships during these years at LISD. Throughout her life, from attending St. Augustine School, being a young single lady, married beautiful woman, and then mother, there was always one constant firm foundation for her – Her Catholic Faith. Her faith was always evident in all she said, did and practiced on a daily basis. This is what Diana will truly be remembered by…Her faith in God.Diana, would want all to know and believe in the following: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be,” John 14: 1-3. In God’s time Nana, we shall you soon again in our Father’s house. Jesus, We Trust In You.Pallbearers will include Rene Javier Paez Jr., Jose Gerardo Sanchez II, Homer Paez III, Lazaro Jesus Paez, Mario Gerardo Paez II, Ricardo Jesus Olivares, and Cynthia Selina Aguero.

A private viewing and mass at San Martin De Porres will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 for the immediate family.
