America passed peacefully from this life the early morning of February 4, 2026. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. America was born in Laredo, TX on December 19, 1934.
America loved to read her bible, praying for others, spending time with family, and cooking for everyone who visited. She was a feisty, determined, and strong-willed person. She was a loving and caring person, very devoted and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had immense love for her great-grandchildren and attended every possible party, celebration, game, or event. “To know her was to love her.” She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Alejandro Vasquez, and daughter Ileana Vasquez.
America is survived by her son, Bernie Vasquez, daughter-in-law Olga Ortiz-Vasquez, Sister, Herminia Castillo, 3 granddaughters, Valerie C. Vasquez, Berlyn A. Vasquez-Torres, Marlene P. Vasquez, 2 grandsons, Bernardo Vasquez Jr., Jaime A. Vasquez, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Special thanks to America’s caregivers from Holy Savior Hospice Care, private caregivers Dora M. Ortiz and Margarita Berhyer Holguin.
