Anna Victoria Perez Vasquez

May 13, 1941 — August 9, 2023

Anna Victoria Perez Vasquez passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday August 09, 2023 in Laredo, Texas at the age of 82.
There are no words to express how dearly she will be missed by her children, grandchildren, and those who loved her.
Anna was born on May 13, 1941 to Guadalupe Benavides Perez and Jose Raymundo Perez in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. As a young girl, Anna moved to Laredo with her family and attended and graduated from Martin High School in 1960. Anna spent the next several years working at Hachar’s Department Store, a place she spoke fondly of for years to come.
In 1966, Anna married Jose Vasquez. They moved to Chicago, Illinois and had their first child, Alma, in 1967 followed by a son, Jose. They moved back to Laredo in 1970 and had three more children: Ray, Adriana, and Gerardo. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She always volunteered as a room mother at Our Lady of Guadalupe School, and was always involved in her children’s daily lives.
Anna dedicated her life to her son Jose’s (Pepe) care and wellbeing.
While raising her children, she was endlessly devoted to the church. She was always involved in church activities and fundraisers at her parish, St Josephs Church. She was actively involved in the Cursillo Movement at San Francisco Javier Church, as well, always giving of her time unselfishly no matter how much more she had to do . The word No was never a part of her vocabulary when it came to serving God.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Guadalupe, her brothers Raymundo Perez, Jesus Hector Perez, Anselmo Alejandro Perez, and her sister Emma Consuelo Perez.
Anna is survived by her children Alma Araceli (Jesus D.) Romero, Jose Anselmo Vasquez, Ray J. Vasquez, Adriana Judith (Darrell) Johnson, and Gerardo Vasquez. She is also survived by her sister Alma (Ricardo) Garza, sister in law Maria Luisa (Jesus Hector) Perez, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog and companion, Phoebe.
Anna was the beloved and devoted grandmother to Adriana Victoria, Jesus David II, Charles Justin, Mikaela Casi Jean, Raymundo Javier, Miranda Marie, Darrell Louis, and Isabella Amelys.
Anna wholeheartedly loved life, making the most of everyday. She always found joy in the little things, such as sharing a meal with her sons or talking with her daughters for hours on end. She never shied away from a good meal and a good conversation. She was immensely proud of her children’s achievements and careers. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life and she always looked forward to their next milestones and successes, always making an extraordinary effort to be present in their everyday lives.
Her capacity for empathy and her willingness to lend an ear, along with her vast knowledge and sage advice will be missed by all of those who loved her. We will miss her forever. She will always be remembered for her love, compassion, humor, and unfailing faith.
Pallbearers will be her sons Jose A. Vasquez, Ray J. Vasquez, Gerardo Vasquez, and her son-in-law Jesus D. Romero.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Louis Johnson, Jesus D. Romero II, Darrell Louis Johnson II, Raymundo J. Vasquez, and Charles Justin Kattan.
