Obituary

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Benny Garza III was brought to the tender embrace of God. Benny was a native of Laredo, Texas.

His professional life began as an Air Force, PFC, following his entrepreneurial impulse that eventually lead him to starting a successful business named Laredo Home Theater. What harnessed his skills and charming personality was a long career in safety management, where he provided the best of service to many established businesses while spending four full years in Afghanistan as a designated country-safety manager. For his last job, he was called to work on a major project for Amazon, highlighting his career as an essential worker during the COVID-19 crisis. He was a passionate father, a selfless provider who prioritized taking care of his family, audiophile, car enthusiast, expert grill master, adventurer of all sorts, a grand entertainer, a power-house of energy and classy humor, a man who truly evoked pure joy just with being presence. His fine taste was reflected in aesthetics, food, movies, games, music, and more. If anyone lacked a smile, he would give you one of his.

In 2020 he started anew with high hopes of living a life of bliss with his new devout bride.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jose Amando and Evelia Reyes; by his paternal grandparents, Benito and Cecilia R. Garza; by his sister, Audrey Marie Perez; by his uncle, Dennis David Garza.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ivonne Astrid Garza who adored him; by his beloved mom, Maricela “Marie” Lupear his rock; by his father, Benito Garza Jr. (Olga); by his cherished children, Ianneli Denise Garza, Benjamin Andrew Garza, and Diego Andres Garza; by his sisters, Devenny Denise Lupear (Gabriel Peche) and Graciela Garza (Eduardo Silva); by his brother Javier Ricardo Garza and many extended family members.

  4. My name is David Beard, I live in Terre Haute, Indiana. I met Benny at Piedras Negras, Mexico working at the Constillation Brands.
I worked under Benny twice. Benny had just came up to Iowa in October of 2019 and took my place while I was on vacation. When I returned I couldn’t believe he was their. We went out an ate and talked about the good times. Benny was the type was Safety Professional that would go out of his way to help any one. I was totally shocked when I got the news, We had just spoke that Sunday before.
He will be dearly missed and I especially will miss him. He was a great Friend and Safety partner to work with. If I can do anything for his Family , please let me know. David M. Beard 812-241-9306

  8. I had the pleasure of meeting Benny late 2019 in Iowa on a project. As soon as I met Benny, I thought we’d know each other for many years. He planned on making us steaks outdoors at our hotel, but we settled for Chinese food. Benny was so full of laughter and that infectious smile of his. I learned so much from him in our short time of knowing each other. I will miss him dearly. Love you comrade. Thank you for your service to our country and to our profession.

  14. Just learned of Benny’s passing. I was his first roommate in the Air Force at Fairchild AFB. Benny was always up for a good time and was most definitely the first one with a joke. A great guy back then and I’m sure a great husband and father. Best wishes for his family!
