Clara (Cay) Mendoza Llano

Clara (Cay) Mendoza Llano, 75, of Laredo, Texas passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Clara was born on December 14, 1946, in Laredo, Texas. She graduated from Raymond & Tirza Martin High School in 1965. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Texas A & I Kingsville, she returned to Raymond & Tirza Martin High School and taught high school Spanish and sponsored the Journal Club. Her 30-year teaching career was spent at Martin High School; a school where she once walked the halls with her classmates, and eventually returned to those halls as an educator whose love for teaching inspired many who knew her. Clara forever was “Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!”Clara enjoyed traveling during summer breaks and visited Europe numerous times. Her worldwide view brought a desire to chronicle her travels and she began to write short stories that she loved to share with family. Besides writing, her other hobbies included collecting souvenirs that represented the various countries she visited, preparing albums containing her favorite family memories, watching classical movies on TCM, spending time with family, and caring for homeless cats.She is preceded in death by her parents, Pioquinto P. and Clara Alardin Mendoza and her brother, Pioqunto Mendoza Jr.Clara is survived by her sister, Adela M. Snyder, and her brother, Albert (Veronica) Mendoza and by nieces Melissa (Andy Deponai) Mendoza, Christina Mendoza, Valerie Varona, Sandra (Edward) Maher, and nephews, Albert (Kristy) Mendoza, Pioquinto Mendoza, III, and John A. Snyder, Jr. Additionally, she is survived by 5 great nieces and 4 great nephews. She is also survived by her faithful companion, a cat named Baby Boy.

A committal service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Aguero Funeral Home and Crematorium, 4402 E. Saunders St., Laredo, Texas 78041. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m.Inurnment will be held at a later date.
