Diana Imelda Gonzalez Fullerton

August 12, 1952 — December 4, 2022

Being the only daughter with five brothers, Diana Imelda Gonzalez Fullerton always had to be strong. And she was all the way to the end. It was evident that she had a fighting spirit when she celebrated life at a Wonder Woman-themed party before she moved to Austin. She would say “I have the Power.”Diana was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. She passed away in Austin on December 4, 2022, at the home of her beloved daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. As the second child of parents, Imelda M. Gonzalez and Pascual Gonzalez Jr, Diana grew up in Laredo and graduated from Ursuline Academy. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Her work career enveloped jobs where she could care for others. Diana was a school teacher in Laredo, a hospice leader in Houston, and an employee of the City of Laredo managing grants and parks programs. Recently the Laredo City Council at its regular meeting called for a moment of silence. She was highly respected. The loves of her life were her daughter, Melissa, granddaughter Ava, and son-in-law, Travis. Survivors are daughter, Melissa, granddaughter, Ava, and son-in-law, Travis Dixon. She is also survived by her brothers Pascual (James), Ricardo (Janie), Federico, Ciro (Marie), Francisco, and Melissa’s sister, Heather Fullerton, dozens of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and many cousins. Diana had many friends, many of them former Ursuline Academy students.Diana was appreciative of her doctors in Laredo, San Antonio, and Austin. She especially was thankful to her team of doctors at M.D. Anderson in Houston. The Gonzalez/Fullerton/Dixon Families are very thankful for the efforts of dedicated caregiver and friend Cynthia Denise Haynes Zuniga, cousin Yleana Martinez, and the many friends and other cousins who checked in on her in the last years of her life including her former husband, Russell Fullerton, former sister in law, Maria Solis and many others.Diana is preceded in death by her parents Pascual Jr. and Imelda, grandparents Juanita and Ciro Martinez, and Alicia and Pascual Gonzalez. One of Diana’s biggest regrets was that she missed her mother’s last dying days and her funeral in 2020 because she was hospitalized at M.D. Anderson was in Houston at the time. Now, Diana is at her mother’s and father’s peaceful side.Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in Peace.
