With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Evelia Cavazos, who entered eternal rest on July 27, 2026, at the age of 82. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family touched countless lives. Evelia found great joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. She loved sewing, preparing delicious meals for her family, and was especially known for making homemade flour tortillas that became a cherished tradition and expression of her love. She also enjoyed tending to her beautiful plants and, above all, spending precious time with her beloved grandchildren. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the comforting presence that made everyone feel welcome.

For more than 40 years, Evelia faithfully served the United Independent School District in Food Production. Through her years of dedicated service, she earned the respect and appreciation of her coworkers and the community, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, commitment, and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Rosa Lydia Esquivel; her mother, Evelia Guerra; and her siblings, Raul Ramirez and Carolina Ramirez.

Evelia leaves behind her loving husband, Joel J. Cavazos Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion. She is also survived by her children: San Juana Ramirez, Guadalupe Esquivel, Rosalinda Esquivel (Jose), Jose David Esquivel, Joel J. Cavazos Jr. (Maria), Israel Cavazos (Vanessa), and Ismael Cavazos (Kristina). She is further survived by her siblings: Victoria Madrigal, Francisca Rangel, Domitila Cambray, Isidoro Ramirez, Estela Tarango, Saul Ramirez, Delia Jackson, Rosalinda Mendoza, and Gloria Ramirez. Evelia also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her love, guidance, and the countless memories they shared with her.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Evelia's legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply and the lives she touched with her generosity, warmth, and unwavering faithfulness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
