Jorge Guadalupe Salazar

May 9, 1951 — August 9, 2025

Laredo

George Salazar passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and family on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

He was born in Austin, Texas on May 9, 1951, to Jorge and Olga Salazar. George attended Mary Help of Christians School, later attending St. Joseph’s Academy, where he graduated in 1969. He then attended The University of Texas in Austin and later received his Bachelor’s Degree at Texas A & I in Laredo. He worked for several businesses in Laredo as a CPA.

As a young boy he was in Boy Scouts Troop 192 under the leadership of the Marist Brothers. Earning his merit badges and completing all assignments given he became an Eagle Scout, receiving the honor at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. Growing up he loved listening to The Beach Boys saving money to purchase all of their albums.

George met his beautiful wife Maria E. Salazar and enjoyed dancing with her at parties, weddings, and other events. He was a family man and enjoyed family togethers and outings with them. He enhanced his Boy Scouts cooking skills and became a great cook, delighting family with his delicious meals. He especially liked grilling steaks and having everyone for frequent cookouts. His four precious grandchildren brought so much joy to his life and he always had big smiles and hugs ready for them. This past month he was able to meet his first great-grandchild. His heart jumped for joy having been able to meet her. He enjoyed football season cheering for the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys.

He was not only a husband to Maria E. but also her best friend and confidant. She took care of him at home as she knew this is where he preferred to be. He wanted to be at home with his children, grandchildren, and other family members who came to visit him there. On Saturday afternoon, they were all with him as he peacefully surrendered himself to God’s will.

George was preceded in death by his parents Jorge and Olga Salazar, both of Laredo, Texas.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of eighteen wonderful years, Maria E. Salazar, and her children, Isela Davila and Oscar Arriaga of Laredo. Also surviving him are his sister, Martha Adela (Enrique) Rubio of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Gerardo Luis (Consuelo) Salazar of Floresville, Texas.
