He was preceded in death by his parents Reynaldo and Francisca Alvarez, brothers Alvaro Alvarez, Luis Alvarez, and Juan Alvarez.
Jose Gerardo is survived by his children Jasmin Janelle Alvarez (Daniel Ortega), Jada Janae Alvarez (Carlos Costabella), Janice Alvarez (Bryan Ramos), Jose Gerardo Alvarez Jr., Jazlyn Alvarez, and Cassandra Alvarez, common-law-spouse Rodale Rodriguez, stepchildren Jacob Vargas and Adam Rodriguez. He is also survived by brothers, sisters, 3 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Aguero Funeral Home, 4402 E. Saunders, Laredo, TX 78041. A vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. from Aguero Funeral Home to San Jose Catholic Church for a Holy Mass at 9:30 a.m.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
