Maria De Jesus “Doña Chita” Gonzalez

January 3, 1926 — July 29, 2021

His heavenly kingdom on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the age of 95. She was born on January 3rd, 1926, in Rosaita, Coahuila, Mexico and upon marrying the love of her life, moved to live in the family’s ranch in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. In the early 1990’s, she made Laredo, Texas her home.Resilient and big-hearted, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She dedicated most of her life caring for her son, Pepe, ensuring he had the best loving care possible. She was committed to sharing her faith in God through the intercession of St. John Paul II. “Abuela Chita” was the fundamental pillar of the family, instilling the importance of humble beginnings, such as hard work, faith, and family values. She offered all her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren nearly a century’s worth of wisdom, stories, and life lessons for all to learn from. She loved reading religious books and Mexican soap opera magazines. She enjoyed cooking and couldn’t miss her novelas, the daily news, Latin entertainment shows like “El Gordo y La Flaca” and Spanish-language court shows such as “Caso Cerrado”. Up until her last days, she prided herself in making her own dresses with her vintage mid-1900’s foot operated Singer Sewing Machine while listening to her cassette tapes of Los Internationales de Durango to her favorite song “Se Renta Esta Casa” and listening to La Rancherita on FM radio. Her many memories will always live in the hearts of her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Mercedes Gonzalez; the father of her children Estanislao Aguiñaga; son Jose Angel “Pepe” Aguiñaga; and daughters Graciela Rubalcaba and Margarita Hernandez.Left to cherish her memory, is her great-grandson, The Honorable Alberto Torres Jr. who cared for her always and held her up until her last breath; her children, Santos (†Gregorio) Cerda, Esperanza (Rogelio) Torres, Diamantina (†Rodolfo) Montoya, Gilberto (Yolanda) Aguiñaga, Lilia (Hilario) Quiroga, Juan Aguiñaga, Elvira Aguiñaga and Delia Villarreal. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as well as other relatives.Pallbearers will be: The Honorable Alberto Torres Jr., Luis Miguel Torres, Jesus Angel Torres, Rogelio Torres Jr., Alfredo Hernandez Jr., and Gilberto Hernandez. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to her primary physician, Dr. Winder Vasquez as well as Dr. Victor Treviño, Dr. Carlos Llanes, and Dr. Elsa Canales who cared for her during her last moments. Most sincere appreciation to the nurses and doctors of Metropolitan Methodist Hospital and the nursing staff of Laredo Medical Center for their compassionate and diligent attention.
