  5. Janie was my friend when we both worked at Zale’s Jewelers downtown when we were very young. She was Janie Ramos then. I was just a teenager and it was my first job. I cannot tell you what a special and unique person she was! Funny, so so smart, and kind. She really cared about people, even though she acted like a tough cookie. We all knew that she had a huge heart. She loved disco music then, like we all did in 1977. I moved away from Laredo and Texas very soon thereafter. But I never ever forgot Janie. I saw her once when I visited many years later. Might have even been 2000, at Gateway Cleaners. She was the same old Janie, very proud of her son, and a true loving person. Still. My deepest condolences to her husband and son and to her entire family. Some people you never forget in your life, no matter the years since. Janie was one of those people. I was sad to read of her passing today. May God rest her soul, and may He give comfort to you, her dearly beloved family.
