On October 5th, Melissa Berlanga Villarreal was called by the Lord to be by His side in heaven after a courageous two-year battle with breast cancer at the age of 53. Melissa passed away peacefully while her husband and two children were holding her hand as she made this heavenly transition.

Melissa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. In high school, Melissa excelled as an athlete in basketball and volleyball. It was during this time, that her beauty caught the eye of a boy who would later become her boyfriend and eventually her husband of almost 37 years combined. (29 years of marriage).

Melissa also loved working at Neel Title Corporation with people she considered her extended family. This was evidenced as she happily worked there for 32 years.

Preceding Melissa in death are her brothers, Vicente Berlanga, Jr. and Victor Hugo Berlanga.

Left behind to carry on Melissa’s legacy are her husband, Guillermo A. Villarreal, daughter Lisa Christine (Danny) Guzman, son Guillermo A. Villarreal, Jr., granddaughter Valentina Isabel Rodriguez, father Vicente Berlanga, mother Olga Berlanga, brother Francisco (Mayra) Berlanga, and sister-in-law Elvia Berlanga, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Special thanks to Lamar Acevedo and Katheryn Villarreal who made several home visits to attend to Melissa’s medical needs and provide comfort and support.

Special thanks are also deserving to her boss, Parker J. Neel, who went above and beyond the call of duty in providing support with words and actions to Melissa during her time of need.
