Mrs. Minerva “Amacita” Melendez beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones by her side on Saturday, November 19, 2022, in Laredo, Texas at the age of 80. “Amacita” as she was affectionately known to her family and close friends enjoyed spending time with the love of her life Juan “Apacito” Melendez, their 14 children and almost 275 grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom some were raised by her. She enjoyed listening to music, singing, and watching novelas with “Apacito”. “Amacita” will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Encarnacion and Angela Martinez, siblings Alfredo, Oscar, Rafael, and Armandina, daughter Minerva Melendez, granddaughters Jessica and Roxanne Garcia, Natalie Melendez, grandsons Kevin, Cesar, Juan III.
Amacita is survived by her loving husband Juan “Apacito” Meléndez, children Aurora (Arturo) Lozano, Juan (Margie) Meléndez Jr., David (Alejandrina) Meléndez, Vicente (Laura) Meléndez, José (Yolanda) Meléndez, Alejandro (Sara) Meléndez, Maria (Moy) Villarreal, Rafael (Gabriela) Meléndez, Esmeralda (David) Nenque, Adán (Maria) Meléndez, Rosaura (David) Castañón, Mario Meléndez, and Gerardo Meléndez. She is also survived by brothers and sister Juan (Guadalupe) Martinez, Eduardo Martinez, Nora Martinez (Juan), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
The family would like to give their utmost sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Doctors Hospital ICU for the care given to Mrs. Melendez during her time of need.
Pallbearers will Alejandro Melendez, Mario A. Melendez, Jose Melendez, David Melendez, Vicente Melendez, Gerardo Melendez Jr., Manuel Hernandez, and Arturo Lozano, Jr.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jesus R. Garcia.
