Nicolas Hernandez, Sr. beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and great friend to many passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 with his loving family by his side.
Nico as he was affectionately known was born in Hebbronville, TX to Tirzo and Severina Hernandez. He was raised in the panhandle in Plainview and Lubbock, TX. where he loved to bull ride and saddle ride. He also worked in his father’s dairy farm in Plainview, TX. He was a true cowboy always wearing his cowboy boots and cowboy hat. He attended school in Hebbronville, TX before moving to Plainview, TX. He loved to sing, play guitar and the violin. He had his own musical group Los Imperiales and played with Conjunto Estrella for several years. He was also the drummer for the Matachines of San Judas Catholic Church. After his retirement from the City of Laredo where he worked for thirty-seven years, he enjoyed watching baseball, football, camping and attending his grandchildren’s sports games and recitals.
On a trip to Laredo, he met the love of his life Minerva Hernandez. They wed at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Tirzo and Severina Hernandez, brothers Valentin, Vidal, Higinio and his sisters Paula Hernandez and Maria Garcia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years of marriage Minerva Hernandez, they were blessed with five children Severina (Fernando) Alvarado, Sally (David) Hinojosa, Sonia Hernandez, Senaida (Rene) Gonzalez and Nicolas (Erika) Hernandez, Jr. He was an awesome grandfather to seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. and brother Jose O. (Lucia) Hernandez of California and sister Santos of Ohio and many loving relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Nicolas Hernandez Jr., Nicolas Hernandez III, Jose O. Hernandez, Ernesto F. Alvarado Jr., David Hinojosa, Andre N. Marines, Rene J. Gonzalez, Jr. and Aucencio Lopez, Jr.

Our heart goes out to Tio’s family. We cherish the special memories we shared with him. We wish you peace and comfort during this sad time. We know that God is welcoming him with open arms because of the wonderful loving Christian man he was. With all our love from me and the girls.
