Rafael M. Lara, Sr., 80, passed away on Mar. 9, 2020, surrounded by family, after a long struggle with medical complications.
Born in Mexico City on Dec. 14, 1939, Rafael moved to the United States as a young boy and grew to be a proud man, a hard worker, and a loving husband to his wife of 58 years, remaining devoted in his faith, especially to Our Lady of Guadalupe. He enjoyed spending time at home with his family, welcoming everyone who came through his doors, usually with food, and always with warmth.
Rafael is preceded in death by his parents, Jose & Lupita Lara, and daughter, Ma. Guadalupe Garza.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Lara; children, Juan A. Estrada, Rafael (Laura) Lara Jr., Miguel A. (Leticia) Lara, Rosa (Juan) Peguero, Jose J. (Laura) Lara, and Idalia (Misael) Martinez; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Juan A. Estrada, Rafael Lara Jr., Miguel A. Lara, Jose J. Lara, Juan Peguero, and Misael Martinez.
